Trained and Professional Drivers

All Acklams drivers are carefully recruited and trained to uphold the highest safety standards. Through our fully accredited Acklams Training Academy, drivers receive in-house training tailored to our own rigorous requirements. Our academy is regularly audited by official approval agencies to ensure continued compliance and excellence.

Passenger Security and Behaviour

Passenger security is just as important to us as road safety. All our drivers are subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks to ensure a safe environment for everyone onboard.

We kindly ask all passengers to behave responsibly and with respect. Any behaviour that threatens the safety or security of our staff, passengers, other road users, or pedestrians may result in immediate removal from the vehicle. In serious cases, we reserve the right to seek legal action for any damage, loss, or injury caused.

CCTV and Privacy

To support a safe and secure travel experience, many of our vehicles are fitted with CCTV systems. These help deter and monitor incidents such as theft, assault, and antisocial behaviour. Where necessary and lawful, footage may be shared with the police or other relevant authorities, in line with our obligations under data protection laws, including the Data Protection Act, GDPR, and the Human Rights Act 1998.

Passenger Conduct and Onboard Safety

To ensure the comfort and safety of everyone:

• Please follow any instructions given by our staff.

• Do not distract or obstruct the driver while the vehicle is in motion.

• Always wear seatbelts where provided and remain seated until the vehicle has come to a complete stop.

• On open-top buses, passengers must remain seated at all times, especially when passing under bridges or low trees. Unaccompanied children are not permitted on the upper deck.

For legal and safety reasons:

• Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited on all our vehicles.

• Emergency exits should only be used in the event of a genuine emergency or if directed by the driver.
